Flying has been an exciting hobby for me and something that I’ve wanted to do since I was very young. I received my private pilot license on September 30, 2019 and am currently rated for VFR flying but now working on my instrument rating. Eventually, I’d like to get commercial rated and then go for CFI but that will probably take some time since I have a full time job and a family with regular activities.
In the mean time, I’d like to share some of the things I’ve learned during my initial training so other folks who are interested in aviation may learn as well.
There are a few main topics that you’ll need to learn, or should I say, master in order to become a great pilot. They include:
- Aerodynamics of flight
- Aircraft engine and systems
- Decision making
- Airports and terminals
- Radio communications
The AOPA has some EXCELLENT online videos and free video courses. I’ve linked to those videos above (just click on the links and you’ll be taken to the AOPA course page). You may need to sign up for an AOPA account but it’s definitely worth the money.
